Image metadata inspector
See common metadata hidden inside your images, then create a fresh privacy-focused copy right in your browser. No login, no advertising, no server processing.
Choose images or a ZIP to inspect
Choose images or a ZIP from the same Browse files picker. On phones, choose Files / Browse to select from device storage. ZIP files are unpacked locally.
We do not upload files, run analytics, or use external libraries. Lossless mode is only attempted for conservative JPEG/PNG cases and falls back to re-encoding where metadata may affect orientation or rendering. A ZIP is assembled on your device without uploading or contacting a server. To protect your browser, ZIP batches have a 100 MB combined input limit. Closing or refreshing the page clears this session. Processing can consume memory, so start with a few images.
What this tool does—and doesn't do
Inspection: checks common JPEG, PNG and WebP metadata structures and explains how much their findings actually matter for privacy for EXIF, GPS indicators, XMP, IPTC and C2PA-related markers. Camera manufacturer, capture date and editing software indicators are shown when recognized; GPS coordinates are never displayed. It is not a full forensic parser. A “not detected” result does not prove metadata is absent.
Privacy export: prefers lossless segment removal for carefully supported cases; otherwise it decodes the image and draws its pixels to a new image. Re-encoding usually drops embedded ancillary metadata, such as location and camera data. Exported files are re-inspected using the same limited checks.
Batch download: clean all selected images, then download them together in one locally generated ZIP. ZIP assembly may use significant browser memory. Visual changes: exporting may change file size, compression, pixel values, animation, color profiles, HDR data, embedded orientation handling or transparency. Animated images are exported as a still frame. Always review the exported result before replacing an original.
AI content labels: this tool does not guarantee that an image can evade AI-content classification. Platforms may use visual classifiers, invisible watermarking, or provenance methods beyond file metadata. Do not use this tool to misrepresent the origin of content.
Our promise: there is no backend for your files. The app works within your browser; it never transmits image data to Brown Family Apps. Your browser must initially load these static HTML/CSS/JavaScript resources from the website.
